Tuition

School-year Tuition: Monthly tuition for lessons from August 18, 2025 through May 22, 2026 is $141 for 30-minute lessons and $211 for 45-minute lessons. Payments are due on the 30th of each month with the exception of July, which is due on or before July 31, 2025 to reserve your lesson time for 2025 – 2026. The last tuition payment will be due on April 30, 2026. Payments may be made in cash, via the invoice from MyMusicStaff or through Apple Pay, Zelle, or Venmo @June-Kohlbeck-1.

Materials Fee

Materials Fee for In-Person Students: There is a yearly materials fee of $50/student. This covers all music books, unlimited digital sheet music, games, supplies as needed, and occasional extra lessons for duet partners. This fee is due by July 31, 2025 and is non-refundable.

Virtual students will continue to be billed separately for their materials.

Summer

Summer (optional): I encourage students to continue their lessons during the summer, but I understand the importance of family vacations and new summer experiences. For this reason, I am very flexible during the summer. Simply keep me posted regarding your summer schedule, and we will work around vacations. I will bill the summer months separately, charging you for only scheduled lessons. During the summer only: I will not charge for any lesson missed, as long as I have been given 48-hours notice.

Payment

Payment is due in advance on the 30th of each preceding month.

Options for Missed Lessons

If a student misses a lesson for any reason (including illness), the following options are available. Missed lessons will not be rescheduled.

Virtual Option:

If you are not able to attend your weekly lesson in person, you may schedule a virtual lesson during your scheduled time. In cases of illness, bad weather, transportation difficulties or complications with caring for other family members, a virtual lesson is an option.

Swap list:

You are welcome to swap times with another student on my swap list, which will be emailed to those opting to be on that list by early September. The lesson swap needs to occur within the same week. If you choose this option, be sure to include me in the details in a group text which includes all students involved in the time switch so that it is very clear who is coming at what lesson time.

Mini Video Lesson:

With 24-hour’s advanced notice of a missed lesson, I can prepare a mini lesson for your student. Simply send me a video of them playing their week’s pieces, including their scales/chord progression work. Be sure to include the name and a photo of appropriate pages of each piano book (if applicable) or name and photo of the solo piece (if applicable). This mini lesson may consist of written input &/or video input. In my mini lesson, I will give feedback on how the student is progressing in their practice. I will prepare the mini lesson during the student’s regularly scheduled time, so sending the video of the student’s progress before their lesson time will be required. The video you send can be simple, and mistakes are acceptable! Please don’t worry about a perfect video.

If I need to cancel:

If I am sick or otherwise unable to be present at a lesson, I will refund the lesson fee or offer a time to make up the lesson.

Terminating Lessons

If you wish to discontinue lessons, please provide 1 month’s notice so that we can end our relationship in a positive manner. Students will continue to receive the lessons they’ve paid for until the end of that monthly cycle when the termination will take effect. Tuition will not be refunded for lessons discontinued before the month’s end.

Media Release

From time to time, I use photos and short videos of my students on social media. If you do not want your child’s image(s) to be used, please let me know by email or in person. Student’s names will not be used.

The commencement of lessons is deemed acceptance of my policy terms.
